ANNA MARIA ISLAND – BRADENTON
The sand of this beach is of the off-white variety, soft but not powdery. Beer, burgers or BBQ is the menu choices. Has restrooms, snack bar and lifeguards. Bring chairs, umbrellas and a cooler. No pets
TREASURE ISLAND – ST. PETERSBURG
Treasure Island, Florida is a tropical beach community that engages nature, water and the environment at every opportunity. White sandy beaches. This area has an abundance of shops and restaurants. Feed the pelicans from the pier. A great place to vacation. Unfortunately no pets are allowed on the beaches.
FORT DE SOTO PARK – ST. PETERSBURG
The white sand at North Beach is smooth enough for a barefoot stroll. Restrooms and showers are just a short walk from the beaches as are picnic table, shade trees and playground areas. You can rent kayaks or bikes. This park is a dog-friendly beach and grassy pet play area. Overnight tent and RV camping is offered on the beach and inland.
A café serving burgers, hot dogs, ice cream, etch is located at the center of the park. There are 2 piers at Fort De Soto so you can drop a line or two if you have a fishing license.
Designated as one of the best beaches, Clearwater beach offers public bathrooms and outdoor showers galore. Pier 60 is an event in itself with all varieties of crafts and specialty item for sale. Beach staples of umbrella rentals and volleyball nets are all over the beaches. The sand is of a powdery consistency. Who hasn’t heard of Clearwater Beach!
SIESTA KEY - SARASOTA
2001, rated as the #1 beach in the United States. “The best sand beach in America”!
99% pure quartz sand that stays cool under your feet. This beach offers tennis and volleyball courts, shaded playground and picnic area. Concessions stands are available also. Enjoy the “drum circle” on Sunday evening to mark the end of another perfect weekend on Siesta Key. Siesta Key village is within walking distance with many shops and restaurants.
CRESCENT BEACH - SARASOTA
Located just south of Siesta Beach you can enjoy the same azure gulf waters and sunsets in a more quiet, secluded setting. Coral formations and marine life that is perfect for the avid snorkeler. Crescent Beach was rated with the “World’s Finest, Whitest Sand”.
TURTLE BEACH - SARASOTA
Turtle Beach in located on the southern tip of Siesta Key. It offers a more sportier beach experience with picnic, playground, volleyball court, horseshoe pits. Also has a boat launch area and fishing is permitted in the Blind Pass Lagoon. There are restaurants, shopping and a few local night spots nearby. After a storm you will see many beach combers and shell collectors. Maybe even find a petrified shark’s tooth!
PASS-A-GRILLE/ST. PETE BEACH – ST. PETERSBURG
The south end of Pass-a-Grille offers a snack shack, public restrooms, changing stalls and outdoor showers. You can rent lounge chairs, unbrellas and 2 person cabanas. A picturesque spot to watch the sunset. Brings flip-flops or shoes to walk the shelly strip between sand and water.
TAMPA BAY – APOLLO BEACH, RUSKIN
The South Shore area offers a different of beach experience. Apollo Beach Nature Preserve. You can watch for Manatees, dolphins in the Bay. Dogs are welcome at this quiet beach. Currently the beach has been extended to allow swimming.
The Resort & Club at Little Harbor in Ruskin
To the left of the Little Harbor’s sunset grill is a small public area. The resort’s inn offers overnight accomadations. Dine at the Little Harbor restaurant or outside at the Tiki Bar with live entertainment Wednesday through Sunday. Spectacular sunsets!
E. G. SIMMONS PARK – RUSKIN
This is a public popular spot. Offering mangroves and open lands. Picnic area and campgrounds with nice ocean view. Includes a bird and wildlife sanctuary. You can launch a boat, and rent kayak and canoes.
